SUPERBOWL!!!

SUPERBOWL SPECIAL

PITTSBURGH (-6.5) vs. Arizona
*game played in Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium*

The Steelers will win this game with a dominating defensive performance against the Cardinals. They are a much better team with more experience and have already succeeded in these playoffs against better competition than the Cardinals can offer. Pittsburgh has won both of those games by margins of 11 and 9. Rothlesburger will succeed against a Cardnials defense that will blitz often, by taking his check down options with regularity. He is also yet t make an interception this postseason. Not even a motorcycle and a no helmet law could stop him in this game.

The Cardinals have played well this postseason and have managed to turn up their defensive pressure as well. However, they have also had the fortune of a relatively easy path to where they are. Kurt Warner has had a great season, but put up most of him stats against the weak NFC West. Don't forget, this guys so old that his wife should be put in a retirement home. Just look at her clapping for applesauce.

Plus...the Steelers fans are great!!!

Good Luck with your pick the last week of the season and someone will soon be the proud owner of a new T-Shirt!

SUPERBOWL SPREADS

In a game where the matchup is about as exciting as the worst logo designed ever...sweetactionpicks continues to give you something to cheer for!!!
Hip, Hip...Hooray!

Pittsburgh (-6.5) vs. Arizona
(game played in Tampa Bay)

Current Standings:
gimmiethatfuckinteeshirt: 7
Phillip Rivers is a Mutant: 6
BusinessEndofaMeatWeasel: 6
sweetactionpicks Oracle: 5

Playoff Scenarios:
gimmiethatfuckinteeshirt - g.t.f.t.s is in the driver's seat for this competition after a perfect Championship Week. Only reminding him that he is one testicle short of being a real man could bring him down now. With a win, he will take home the grand prize of 1 (one) custom made sweetactionpicks.com t-shirt. g.t.f.t.s. can also win if he loses and both p.r.i.a.m and b.e.o.a.m.w. lose as well.

Phillip Rivers is a Mutant - p.r.i.a.m. needs a little help, but can take home the prize with a win and a loss by g.t.f.t.s. As far as he is concerned, the picks of s.a.p.o. and b.e.o.a.m.w. are irrelevant.

BusinessEndofaMeatWeasel - b.e.o.a.m.w. went from the driver's seat to sitting on the outside looking in after a disastrous Championship Weekend. The only scenario where he can now take home the prize is with a win coupled with losses by g.t.f.t.s. and p.r.i.a.m.

sweetactiopicks Oracle - s.a.p.o has no shot a winning. *(editor's note - the economy is to blame for s.a.p.o.'s poor performance)

Please have your picks in by the extended deadline of Thursday. The sooner they are in, the sooner the final posting of this great NFL season will be up.

As always kids....if it's not SWEET, its not ACTION!!!

DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF PICKS

Saturday games:

BALTIMORE (+3) @ Tennessee
The Ravens defense looked absolutely dominant last week by forcing 5 turnovers from the Dolphins who had only turned the ball over 13 times all season. Both teams play a very similar style of football, but the Ravens have momentum going in their favor. Kerry Collins will have Vietnam like flashbacks of the 2001 SuperBowl as the Ravens crush him.

CAROLINA (-10) vs. Arizona
Not sure if it has sunk in yet but I've mentioned it 50 times this season. The Cardinals cannot play on the East Coast. It doesn't get much tougher than the East Coast. Take that along with a hamstring injury that will slow down Boldin and the Panthers should handle this game. Don't let last week's performance by the Cardinals run defense fool you. Williams and Stewart will have a field day running the ball.

Sunday games:
PHILADELPHIA (+4) @ New York Giants
This Eagles team is eerily similar to last years Giants team that got hot at the right time and rode it to the Championship. Right down to the homo of QB. Heading into an away game at a division rival who is the number one seed they feel no intimidation after beating the G-men there late in the season.

PITTSBURGH (-6) vs. San Diego
San Diego has injuries to Tomlinson and Gates and a DUI from Jackson to deal with leading into this game. The Pittsburgh D will not allow Sproles to run the way he did on the smaller Colts defense which will force the Chargers to throw the ball. With the poor weather looming this is not a good sign and expect the Steelers to take a low scoring game.

DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF ROUND SPREADS

Picks this week are due by Tuesday evening due to the company's travel schedule.

DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF SPREADS:
BALTIMORE (+3) @ TENNESSEE
ARIZONA (+10) @ CAROLINA
PHILADELPHIA (+4) @ NEW YORK GIANTS
SAN DIEGO (+6) @ PITTSBURGH

Standings After Wild Card Weekend:
BusinessEndofaMeatWeasal: 3
sweetactionpicks Oracle: 2
gimmiethatfuckinteeshirt: 2
Phillip Rivers is a Mutant: 2

Recap: The always classy BusinessEndofaMeatWeasel took an early lead after one weekend, but really its anyone's game at this point. Ironically, Phillip Rivers is a Mutant scored big as the only team to pick the Chargers, but struggled in some other games. The Ravens came through with a win for every team.

Good Luck in the Divisional Round Everyone!

WILD CARD WEEKEND PICKS

Saturday's Games:
ATLANTA (-2.5) @ Arizona
The Falcons look to continue their remarkable turnaround from last season as they travel to Arizona to face the fading Cardinals. Don't be fooled by the perception that the Cards have an offense that is so prolific that Atlanta won't be able to keep up. In reality, the Cardinals only average four more yards per game. In fact the Falcons balanced attack averages more than twice as much yardage on the ground (152/game vs. 73/game) and is much better suited to playoff football. Look for Michael Turner to smile a lot as he puts up some big numbers and the Falcons control the clock to keep the Cardinals offense off the field.

INDIANAPOLIS (-1.5) @ San Diego
The Colts are the hottest team in the NFL heading into the playoffs, riding a nine game win streak that included a victory over the Chargers. In addition to San Diego's laughable 8-8 record, they are battling injuries to their top two weapons, LT and Gates. While both are expected to play, neither is expected to be at full speed. Also, don't worry about the game being away for the Colts because they have been just as effective on the road as they have been at home, sporting a 6-2 record in both.

Sunday's Games:
BALTIMORE (-3) @ Miami
While many are impressed with Miami's turnaround, the teams they have played to get there suck. Their schedule is less impressive than Chad Pennington's ability to look cool. Check him out side by side with the guy who played Corky.

The only playoff team that the Dolphins beat was the 8-8 Chargers. In their other two games against playoff teams, they were dismantled by the Cardinals 10-31 and also beaten down by these very Ravens, 13-27. Expect more of the same as the Baltimore defense has been on fire recently while the offense has really gotten the running game going with the McGahee/McClain combo. If I did locks during the playoffs, this would get it.

PHILADELPHIA (-3) @ Minnesota
This is probably the hardest of this weekend's games to predict and that's because the Eagles continue to be the most unpredictable team in the NFL. I believe that they will show up to make a run this year and that they may even give the Giants a very difficult matchup next week. On the Vikings side I have not been very impressed with the teams they are able to beat (I don't include the Giants' second string last week as a good victory) and think that having Jackson instead of Frerotte at QB will take them down unless he only hands off the Peterson. However, the Eagles will have the box stuffed with 8 guys and dare Jackson to throw.
